Scholarship from the Alfred und Cläre Pott-Stiftung

 

The Alfred und Cläre Pott-Stiftung awards annual scholarships to particularly talented students from Central, Eastern and Southern European countries (also Germany).

The total annual funding amounts to 12,000 euros. The scholarship is awarded for one year with funding of at least 125 euros per month. Funding begins in April and ends in March of the following year. The maximum funding period is 2 years. After the end of the first funding year, a new application process is required.

Eligibility criteria

Students who are enrolled in an instrumental programme at the Folkwang University of the Arts and are in their 1st to 4th bachelor semester are eligible for funding. Applicants must not be older than 23 years at the time of the start of funding (01.04.2026).

Application and selection procedure

Applications must be submitted by 6th of January 2026 exclusively by email to Lea Kroll foerderung(at)folkwang-uni.de and must include the following documents:

  • Personal letter of application (max. 2 pages)
  • curriculum vitae
  • certificate of enrollment (Studienbescheinigung)
  • letter of recommendation from one of your lecturers

IMPORTANT: You must request a letter of recommendation from one of your lecturers. This letter must be issued on the official form provided for that purpose. The form must be sent directly to foerderung(at)folkwang-uni.de by your teacher before the application deadline of Januray 6th 2026. Letters of recommendation sent after the deadline will not be considered and your application will be deemed incomplete.

Applications with incomplete information will not be considered.

The scholarships will be awarded by a selection committee of teachers from the Folkwang University of the Arts and a member of the Alfred und Cläre Pott-Stiftung. The audition date will be announced by end of January 2026.

The audition programme should last approximately 20 minutes.

In the classical music section, the programme must consist of three works (from different eras, including one contemporary piece). Students from the musical theatre, pop music and jazz sections should demonstrate several different styles in their programme. The programme does not need to be submitted with the application.
