Instrumental pedagogy - vocal pedagogy

Located between artistic practice and pedagogical know-how, the profession of instrumental and vocal pedagogy is versatile and varied. The practice has long since gone beyond traditional individual lessons: leading music-making groups, developing artistic-pedagogical projects and maintaining contacts with schools, day-care centers and senior citizens' facilities and filling them with music.
Diversity is also required in terms of musical genres and music-making practices.
The great demand for music education offers well-trained music teachers a broad spectrum of work that opens up the opportunity to set individual priorities with good prospects for the future.

Music Education (B. Mus.)

The Bachelor's degree course in Music Education is aimed at music-loving, curious and open-minded students who want to expand their knowledge and skills and pass them on professionally.
The music education course with an instrumental or vocal major initially provides for two joint years of study.
In the third and fourth year, students can decide to continue studying their previous artistic main subject intensively. Alternatively, they can choose a specialization (see below) and thus profile and specialize for later professional practice.

Specializations:

  • Elementary music education
  • 2. major artistic subject
  • Conducting large instrumental ensembles
  • Children's choir conducting
  • Music theory / composition pedagogy

Compact Music Education (M. Mus.)

The Master's degree program "Music Pedagogy Compact" is aimed at graduates of artistic degree programs (instrument, voice, composition) who would like to expand their artistic and pedagogical expertise and open up new fields of work. The course includes not only pedagogical and didactic basics, but also teaching practice and musical project work.
