The dissertation by Dr. Karoline Spelsberg (Scientific Director of the Institute for Lifelong Learning at the Folkwang University of the Arts) entitled: "Diversität als Leitmotiv - Handlungsempfehlungen für eine diversitäts- und kompetenzorientierte Didaktik" has been published by Waxmann-Verlag.
The volume examines the question of how the diversity of students and the demand for competence orientation can be systematically taken into account didactically. To answer this question, the discourses on diversity (management) and competence orientation are brought together at the micro level and it is shown that these represent compatible contributions to the implementation and profiling of "good teaching".
After a theoretical explanation of the different contexts of origin and development of the discourses and a closer look at selected features of the didactic elements learning objective, learning task and portfolio, the importance of design principles as a basis for orientation for didactic decisions is shown.
In order to gain further insights, two empirical studies were carried out in a university context. The insights gained contain important practical design guidelines for the coherent design of didactic parameters in a teaching and learning arrangement.
