Event Technology
One important area of technical management is Event Technology. All events in the course of the semester that lead to performances are managed by this department. In the lead-up, this involves organising technical operations. This extends from managing rehearsals to creating the necessary scenery to set construction to artistic lighting to managing the ongoing performances on one of the university's 6 stages.
Events Technologies manages all performances by Folkwang musicians, dancers and other performing artists on-site, in the external institutes of the Folkwang University of the Arts or at outside venues in the case of guest appearances and cooperative projects. These range from choir concerts to symphonic performances by the University orchestra, concerts by soloists and ensembles, and elaborate operatic, dramatic, musical and dance performances by individual departments. Events in the musicological and theoretical departments, events involving school musicians and church musicians and also the qualifying examinations, admission examinations and graduation examinations are supervised by Events Management.
Around 300 performance events are held every year in the university’s own performance venues or performance spaces outside the university. Events Management is also much in demand as a partner organisation for special events and other major events, competitions, master classes, symposia, festivals and the like that take place the course of the year.
