Curriculum Vitae

Cigdem Göymen (born in 1971) obtained a degree in English Studies and Romance Studies in Freiburg as well as in Film & TV Studies in London. During her study, her work activities included a spell at the Pretty Ugly Dance Company under the artistic direction of Amanda Miller. In 2000, she graduated with a Magister Artium in Freiburg and moved to Istanbul. There she designed the Music, Film and Visual Arts programmes at the Goethe Institute in Istanbul up to 2009, when she became Assistant Director of the Contemporary Istanbul Art Fair. She ultimately returned to Germany, where her activities included script adviser for the Medienboard Berlin Brandenburg and working in Hamburg for the filmmaker Fatih Akin. In the spring of 2014, she took up the post of managing the newly established Institute for Pop Music. Since January 2020 she is the provisional director.
