Jens Thomas

Jens Thomas is an improvisation artist, singer/songwriter, performer and composer. He studied piano (jazz and classical music) with Dieter Glawischnig at the Musikhochschule Hamburg (Hamburg Conservatory). He has been performing at home and in other European countries since 1996, teaches improvisation workshops for the Goethe-Institut on all continents and has published numerous records. He was invited to a number of festivals and awarded, among others, the Internationale Jazzpreis Nürnberg (Nuremberg international jazz prize) and the SWR Jazz Prize.
In 2003 he had his first encounter with the theatre. Thomas performed not only as an improvising piano player but also as a singer in Luk Perceval’s production of “Othello” at the Münchner Kammerspiele in 2003 and in Elmar Goerden’s production of “Clavigo” at the Bayerische Staatsschauspiel in 2004. He subsequently became “artist-in-residence” at the Schauspielhaus Bochum where he develops his concert series “Piano Voices” at the Kammerspiele and composes incidental music.

Henrietta Horn

Choreographer and dancer Henrietta Horn studied from 1987 to 1992 at the Deutsche Sporthochschule (German Academy of Sport) in Cologne. In 1992 she continued her education at the Folkwang University, graduating from the professional dance course in 1996.
After her studies she started her career as a freelance choreographer and dancer.

In 1999 she becomes joint artistic director, with Pina Bausch, of the Folkwang Tanzstudio and has since developed choreographies together with and for the company for performances at home and abroad. In addition to her work as director of the Folkwang Tanzstudio she creates her own solo pieces.
She teaches workshops in Indonesia, Cameroon, Japan, and other countries, developing smaller compositions and choreographies with dancers there. Another important part of her work are projects with musicians and composers.

Henrietta Horn's term as artistic director of the Folkwang Tanzstudio comes to an end in September 2008. She works as freelanced choreographer and dancer. In August 2008 she received the Female Artist Award of North-Rhine Westphalia 2008 for Choreography/Contemporary Dance.
