Susanne Cano studied at the Art of Speech Institute of the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart. She graduated with honors in 2001. That same year, she also graduated from the Teaching Institute of Psychotonik in Zurich where she trained to be a breath and movement therapist.
Over the past 20 years, she has performed as a narrator at various venues and readings with choirs, singers and musicians as well as alone with her own solo literary program. For a while, she was a member of the „Studio für gesprochenes Wort“, an ensemble of narrators, and she performed with them in various productions with such ensembles as the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra as well the Ensemble für Neue Musik.
In addition to her artistic activities, she has been a faculty member at the music conservatories of Stuttgart, Karlsruhe and Cologne in the voice, music education, church music and speech departments. She has been teaching in the Musical Department at the Folkwang University of the Arts since April 2016. Her work there is shaped by communicative movement as well as the work of actor Jurij Vasilijev.
