After finishing her acting studies at the University of the Arts in Berlin, Marina Matthias was engaged as an actress for two years at the theater in Göttingen, five years at the Schauspielhaus Essen, two years at Theater Bremen and two years at the Ulmer Theater.
She was engaged at Ruhrfestspielen Recklinghausen for 10 years where, in addition to a co-production with Théatre Vidy in Lausanne, many guest engagements originated, including appearances in London, Stockholm, Volterra and Taschkent, Usbekistan.
She has embodied such important roles as Antigone, Kassandra, Evchen, Nora, Iphigenie, Hedda Gabler, Cordelia and Frau von Stein. Ms. Matthias has worked with such important directors as Hansgünther Heyme, Francois Pésenti, Christina Friedrich, Harald Demmer, Phillipp Preuß, among others.
She has been a member of the acting faculty of the Musical Department at the Folkwang University of the Arts since 2003.
