Whispering colour

„How much do we know about the falling of flowers?”
Mui Cheuk Yin

On invitation of the Folkwang Tanzstudio and Pina Bausch the in Hong Kong trained dancer and choreographer follows this question in her choreography „Whispering Colour“.

The empty stage lives from the strength of colours - the colour of the lighting, costumes and of the flowers. Their slow fall inspires the spectator to an imaginative journey.

„Whispering Colour” is a poetic interaction with colour studies and human emotion. The cultural background of the choreographer influences the evening without being the foreground topic. Furnished with western quotations Mui Cheuk Yin creates a mixture in which eastern and western culture meet.

Mui Cheuk Yin counteracts the light and poetic atmosphere with a strong, often rigorous movement vocabulary. Her influences through Chinese Classical and Traditional Dance, her technique of American Modern Dance and her work in the field of Contact Improvisation are clearly visible.

„Whispering Colour“ is a celebration for the senses. It brings a breeze of warmth and coolness, stillness and grace, silence and strength, lightness and poetry on stage.
