Urs Dietrich

Urs Dietrich gained his dance training at Folkwang, then called the Folkwang University in Essen, from 1981 to 1985. Since 1986 he has been creating group and solo choreographies with which he has made worldwide guest performances.

He directed the Bremer Tanztheater (Bremen Dance Theatre) together with Susanne Linke from 1994 to 1996. In subsequent years he continuously worked in Bremen as a guest choreographer. From 2000 onwards he became the sole director of the Bremer Tanztheater. Since 2007 Dietrich has been “Choreographer in Residence”.

Urs Dietrich received the Kurt-Jooss prize from the city of Essen (1985), the Förderpreis (promotional prize) of the federal state of North-Rhine Westphalia (1990), the Kurt Hübner prize (1999) and the Deutscher Kritikerpreis (German Critics’ Prize) (2004).
