Integrative Music Theory

Composing / Orchestrating / Arranging / Producing

The study course with the specialisation area Composing / Orchestrating / Arranging / Producing concentrates on the realisation of the students' own musical works, the writing of music in all its diverse manifestations. It promotes an genre cross-cutting, artistic-creative engagement with a variety of styles of traditional and contemporary (including popular) music and makes full use of the design elements of the new media.

This course encounters development trends in the music world as relating to segments of overlapping event formats, offering artists expanded perspectives and confronting them with new challenges. Furthermore, account is taken of the fact that a broad field of activity is opening up in the area of functional music (e.g. film and stage music), in which a comprehensive training is required to be successfully active. Students will here acquire the necessary expertise and skills in order to be able to apply compositional design elements in a targeted manner and ideally align music to a particular context.

The ability to professionally apply new media - particularly computer-aided sources of sound and studio technology - is becoming increasingly important in the areas mentioned.
