Vita
Gil Mehmert studied music performance in Cologne before changing to the directing course of studies at the August Everding Theater Academy/ Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich where he graduated in 1991. He has directed productions in all genres of theater and music theater on many prestigious stages, including those in Berlin, Bochum, Hamburg, Leipzig, Munich, Zurich and Vienna, to name a few. His wide-ranging directing career includes screen to stage adaptations, extravagant open-air productions for such German public television companies as ZDF and WDR as well as many musical productions.
Gil Mehmert has been a professor of scenic direction in the Musical Department of the Folkwang University of the Arts since 2003.
