Admission requirements

  • Evidence of qualification for entry (general university entrance certificate; official database on the equivalence of international educational achievements: http://anabin.kmk.org/anabin.html)
  • Applicants without a general university entrance certificate may also be admitted, provided that they exhibit outstanding artistic talent (see "Rahmenordnung" Nr. 323 §8)
  • Evidence of artistic aptitude or outstanding artistic talent respectively by passing the aptitude test

Language requirements

  • Applicants who didn’t acquire their university entrance certificate from a German school are required to prove that they have attained the German language level B2 upon enrollment. Within two semesters after enrollment, students have to prove that they have attained German language level C2.
  • The language requirements at the Folkwang University of the Arts are in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).

    Costs

    • 50 € application fee (to be paid with application)
    • Each semester all students have to pay a “social contribution” fee for Student Union services, a “student contribution” fee for the work of the AStA (General Student Committee), as well as a fee for the VRR/NRW ticket. A breakdown of the costs plus information on how to pay is available here.
