Direction of Vocal Ensembles (Master of Music)

Admission requirements

_A study degree in the field of music such as a Bachelor of Arts or Music, a Diploma or State Examination or an equivalent degre; in case of the part-time study course with acquisition of at least 240 ECTS Credits. _Evidence of artistic aptitude or outstanding artistic talent respectively by passing the aptitude test at the Folkwang University of the Arts

 

_For the part-time major “Singing with Children and Youngsters”: Evidence of present continuous work with children and/or teenagers

Language requirements

_Applicants have to verify proof of language level C1 with enrolment.

 

_The required levels of language skills at Folkwang University of the Arts are in accordance to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).

Costs

_50 € application fee: For your application a fee of € 50 is due. The amount will be shown to you in the application form.

 

_No tuition fees are charged at Folkwang.

 

_Each semester all students have to pay a social contribution for the services of the Student Union, a student contribution for the work of the AStA (General Student Committee) and the VRR/NRW ticket. A breakdown of the amounts plus information on how to pay is available here.

Applications must be submitted via the Folkwang Application Portal by the end of the application period on 15 March (for the following winter semester). The portal is open for applications from 15 January to 15 March.

_For the part-time study course “Children´s and Youth Choir Directing”: Evidence of present continuous work with children and/or teenagers

Aptitude test

The aptitude test for the study course Direction of Vocal Ensembles usually takes place in the first weeks of May. Please note that you will have to be on site for the aptitude test.

 

The artistic aptitude needs to be proven through a practical test in the following subjects:

  • ensemble directing
  • voice
  • keyboard instrument

When required a colloquium may be held additionally.

Enrolment takes place at the end of September for the start of studies in October and at the end of March for the start of studies in April. Please refer to your letter of admission for the exact period.
