Grants of the Alfred & Cläre Pott Foundation

The Alfred & Cläre Pott Foundation awards grants once a year to particularly talented students from Central and Eastern European countries (see country list*).
The total award sum per year is EUR 12,000. The grant is awarded for one year at a time. Grant payments commence in March and end in February of the following year. Individuals may receive the grant for a maximum period of two years. A new application for the selection process must be submitted at the end of the first year.

Grant eligibility:

All students of Folkwang University of the Arts registered for instrumental training between semesters 1 and 4. Applicants must not be older than 23 years.

Application and selection process:

Grant applications must be submitted to the Department for Strategy & Project Development no later than December 15, and must contain the following documents:

  • CV/Resume
  • Summary of artistic development
  • Assessment from the principle study teacher
  • A programme consisting of 3 works, from which the jury will select a rendition of 20 minutes in total. The submitted programme shall contain information regarding the composer and the composition, the names of the performing artists and the accompaniment, as well as information about the time of each work and movement. Important: The programme should have the appearance of a professional document.

Applications with incomplete information will not be considered.

The selection of the grant recipient is the responsibility of a selection committee, composed of two representatives of Folkwang University of the Arts and one representative of the Alfred & Cläre Pott Foundation. The presentation date will be announced ahead of time at the start of the winter semester.
