Folkwang in the social media
Communications are subject to constant change. Media usage has undergone rapid development in the Web 2.0 era; being online is a normal everyday experience – even out and about. This is particularly true in the area of social media (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, blogs) where new communications channels are constantly being created, the use of which can be valuable for a wide range of target groups.
The presence in social networks is thus an integral component of the communications mix of universities in general and of the Folkwang University of the Arts in particular. A presence in these networks – especially in the areas of information, contact to potential students|those interested in studying and image advertising – is to be seen as an essential complement to our principal internet presence for the purpose of optimally reaching the respective target groups and entering into dialogue with them.
The Folkwang University of the Arts expressly welcomes the diversity of the various already existing presences of study courses, institutes and fields of activity. In order to provide security and orientation for the academic use of social media activities in the name of the university, social media guidelines and information on their professional use were adopted by the Folkwang President's Office in August 2014.
The Folkwang University of the Arts is currently actively represented on Facebook as well as in the two video portals YouTube and Vimeo.
