The general student committee (AStA) is selected by the student parliament (StuPa) and is the executive organ of the student body. The AStA represents the interests of all students within, as well as outside university. The team consisting of the AStA board of directors, management and speakers meet regularly and share a variety of topics and projects among themselves.

In corporation with the University Duisburg-Essen Student Union (Studierendenwerk der UDE), the international language café “Café Lingua” regularly takes place. Native speakers and those interested in languages can speak different languages in small groups under the instructions of language guides. Participation is free and possible without registration.
