Grants from the Society of Friends and Sponsors of the Folkwang University of the Arts (Gesellschaft der Freunde und Förderer der Folkwang Universität der Künste e. V. - GFFF)

This society, founded in 1950, offers support in various fields for exceptionally talented and deserving students at Folkwang University of the Arts. In addition to the annual Folkwang Award in various artistic fields and project support for exceptional individual projects, GFFF also offers study grants for students at Folkwang University of the Arts.

Requirements:

  • The applicant is currently pursuing his/her first degree.
  • The course of study will be completed at the end of the term of the grant.
  • The applicant is not in receipt of any other study grant.

Merit scholarships

Grant eligibility:

All students of Folkwang University of the Arts between semester 3 and the end of their first Bachelor’s degree are eligible. In exceptional cases, students working on the completion of a Master’s degree may also be eligible. Grants are awarded for 1 semester, and commence on either April 1 or October 1 of a study year. The grant amount is paid out monthly (€100 to €150).

 

Application and selection process:

Applications for winter semester 2017 / 2018 grants must be submitted by May 31, for the summer semester 2018 by December 12 to Ms. Beate Jankowski (Department for Strategy & Project Development, Room W 304) and must contain the following documents:

  • Application form (download see below),
  • Proof of course performance to date (transcript of records),
  • Assessment from the principle study teacher.

Applications with incomplete information will not be considered.

The Grants Committee of the GFFF decides on the grants at the start of each semester. Successful applicants will be notified by a representative of the Department for Strategy & Project Development.

Excellence scholarships

Grant eligibility:

Excellence scholarships are awarded to students of Folkwang University of the Arts in accordance with the German Stipend Act. The combined support payments (€300/month) commence on October 1, and end on September 30 of the following year. 


All students of Folkwang University of the Arts between semester 1 (first immatriculation) and the end of the first Master’s degree are eligible. Second degree students can apply if they did not receive a Germany Grant as fir

Application and selection process:

Grant applications for the year 2016/2017 must be submitted to the Department for Strategy & Project Development no later than May 31, and must contain the following documents:

  • Application form (download available from the homepage),
  • Curriculum vitae, and summary of artistic development,
  • Proof of course performance to date (transcript of records),
  • Assessment from the principle study teacher.
  • Faculty 4: max. 5 pages (not digital) of a representative work, but not of a final year project.
  • Faculty 1 will extend an audition invitation. The audition date will be announced in good time.

Grants for international students

Grant eligibility:

International students at Folkwang University of the Arts are eligible for grants in connection with the STIBET III program of the DAAD. Grants are awarded for 1 semester, and commence on either April 1 or October 1 of a study year (combined grant value is €300/month).All international students at Folkwang University of the Arts between semester 1 (first immatriculation) and the end of the first Master’s degree are eligible.
