Gregorian EUREGIO

The Gregorian EUREGIO is made up of an amalgamation of three European universities: the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague (Koninklijk Conservatorium in Den Haag  (NL), the musicological Institute of the Catholic University of Leuven (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (B) and the Folkwang University of the Arts.

The goal of this cooperation is the creation of a
plainchant network for chant ensembles and their conductors, for professional and non-professional musicians, for musicologists and theologians

What do we do?

  • Organisation of a festival for chant ensembles in Essen in 2011 (‚Chant & Organ‘)
  • Publication of handbooks on selected plainchant topics (history, liturgy, modality, forms and genres, semiology, paleography, praxis) starting in 2011
  • Exchange of teachers on university level
  • Workshops and courses: theory and practice of plainchant

Organisation: Department of Gregorian Chant
