Questions going beyond the Student Advisory Service

Subject consultation

In addition to information on the structural and organisational development of a study course at the Folkwang University of the Arts, subject-oriented consultation in relation to your abilities and expertise is very important both before and during your study. For this purpose, representatives of the study course are available, with whom we would gladly put you in contact.

Psychological and social advisory service

Various stressful situations may well arise in the course of your study, which make it more difficult for you to study or even prevent you from studying. The Essen-Duisburg Student Union offers a free psychological and social advisory service for students and teaching staff at the Folkwang University of the Arts on the campuses of the Duisburg-Essen University. Further information is available on the Student Union website.
We would be delighted to undertake the task of establishing contact for you.

Protection against sexual harassment

The Folkwang University of the Arts does not tolerate sexual harassment in any form whatsoever and is committed to preventing it. It has established a counselling service that anybody who feels they have been sexually harassed can turn to. This service is anonymous, confidential, free of charge and does not take place on the university premises.

Contact: 0201/862 12 12 or ombudsstelle(at)

If desired, the Central Equal Opportunity Representative will arrange the contact for the initial counselling or accompany persons affected to it.

Advice on the principle of equal opportunity

Please contact the Equal Opportunities Office if you have any equal opportunity or discrimination issues.  There you will also find the main Family Service Point, which will advise you on issues relating to the reconcilability of family, studying and career. The Equal Opportunities Office also offers a childcare service and awards scholarships for students with children on a semester basis.
