Diversity Portal

Welcome to the Diversity Portal pages of the Folkwang University of the Arts

The Folkwang University of the Arts perceives individual diversity as a source of innovation, i.e. value creation by way of appreciation. The conscious and appreciative handling of diversity is seen as a core task of university development.

The institutionalisation of diversity activities arises from the appointment of a teaching staff representative for Gender and Diversity Management. This task, currently assumed by Dr. Karoline Spelsberg, is intended to intensify counselling for all members of the university by considering the wide-ranging aspects in study and teaching as well as supporting the university management in the development and realisation of their diversity strategy. Furthermore, the Institute for Lifelong Learning also supports the university members with a range of corresponding further education courses as well as the development of the university by systematic quality monitoring. The monitoring makes use of both qualitative and quantitative elements from social research and – together with the responsible actors – attempts to improve the conditions for academic success by taking account of the diversity of the students.
