Dance Pedagogy for Artistic Dance (M.A.)

In this Master’s course that equips students to be professional dance teachers, students may choose a concentration in Contemporary Dance or Classical Dance. The basis in the Contemporary Dance specialization is the Jooss-Leeder technique.

Contents of studies

The subjects to be studied are: methods/methodologies, principles of teaching, physiology, theory of dance, and music, plus work observation and work experience. The duration of the course is four semesters.

Prerequisites for admission:

Prerequisites for the course are knowledge of the German language (CEFR level A1), a degree in dance and at least three consecutive years of work experience onstage, as well as a talent for teaching (to be demonstrated in a sample lesson). Intending students must consult with the Institute of Contemporary Dance after applying but before the qualifying examination / sample lesson.
